Message from The Command Staff (New Years Message)

Posted on Fri Jan 1st, 2016 @ 8:43pm by David Hawkins

To the crew of the Gladiator:

2 years in the making… That is what the Gladiator has been to get it to where she has been. It is hard to see Simming without the name of Gladiator being everywhere, anymore for Obsidian Fleet. Over the top you think? Not really if you think about it…

In the past year, the Gladiator has become the hub point for many writers, and even though not all have stuck around, that has allowed us to weed out those that were not as dedicated and creative as the crew before us now. The creativity and activity have been a shining beacon for the Sim as we have won several monthly awards. Yes, not all have been Gold awards, but we are a SIM that has seen several more Gold awards compared to the other elite sims in the fleet.

So yes, if you are writing on the Gladiator, you are a part of the Elite of this Fleet and are amazing in your own part. I am proud to be the one to be called the head boss, so I can report on how, month by month, we not only spit out great writing, but quantity. It’s a rare thing and each and every one of you should be proud of yourselves. So give yourselves a pat on the back.

Now a quick word from the rest of the command staff… *Hands mic over*

Wow, what else can I say? I've been simming since I was 14, back in the day of geocities groups, before yahoo groups even existed. In all that time I've only ever encountered a crew like this one once before. Until recently that previous crew had made my favorite game of all time, but this year, with the awesome crew and creative stories we have running here, this game wins in my mind! It's no wonder why Obsidian Fleet loves us! The leadership of this game always has something new and crazy up his sleeve, and he wisely gathered a supportive and skilled command crew around him to help. Because of this we have attracted a crew that is capable of writing some of the best stories I've had the honor of participating in. The Gladiator is my simming home, I love this ship, I love this crew, and I am beyond excited to see where the next year takes us, keep up the good work!

- Commander Kavi

Ditto what the XO said. I've also been simming for a long time, two decades now, since the AOL live chatroom simming days. This is one of the best crews I have ever been a member of, and one of the rare ones where the storylines, character development, and mission ideas are coming from more than just the person at the top. In the world of simming, two years is a long time for any one ship to produce at the level of quantity and quality that we have with the Gladiator. As the keeper of both the points updates and the Crew's Choice Award, every month is another opportunity for me to reflect with pride at what all of you do. Thanks for letting me be a part of your stories. Cheers, and to an excellent 2016.

- Lieutenant Commander Stele

Things and stuff? Is this thing on? *taps mic* Hello? Ah I think it's working now! Everyone is great, you're all fun to write with and even though I fall behind because I'm busy, I always catch up and enjoy reading and writing with all of you. I hope everyone has a great year and we all have a lot of fun with the missions we come up with for the year.

- Commander ch’Koro

So there you have it… Honest players and people. No joke, we are as real as you are sitting there on the couch, or behind a desk reading the screen. Yes, we are seen as the head people of a sim, but the Gladiator is a community that we are all proud of. It is a beacon of light for many and a joy to say the least. We all want to say thank you, each and every one. This is as much your community as it is ours. Each one of you add to this and make it what she is today.

I personally look forward to seeing what is to come in the future for the Gladiator and each and every one as well. Happy New Year and Keep on Trekking!

- Commodore Hawkins

P.S. And whoever keeps stealing the Rum… I’m going to find you…
