Important Clarifications

Hey every one,

So a couple new instructions from the CO/XO team.

1.) Any posts in which Elian is messing with your character, include both Paul and I in it. We feel that part of the goal with Elian is that he is unstable, and with both of us going back and forth with him, it will enhance that concept.

2.) We really are very insistent that your character face some dark moments. There is nothing 'plucky' about this idea. The whole point is to cause your character emotional and psychological pain. it is ok for us to have Elian try something that may not be as intense as that first off, but by the end of the mission if your character isn't enduring some very dark moments and pain, then you've missed the whole point of this one.

3.) Expanding on the idea of Fear. When we started putting this mission together, fear was the word that popped up a lot, but what we are looking for, is far deeper. As you can see Elian is using Hawkins losses to cause him pain, to make him conflicted and manipulatable. He is using Mercias personality flaws to make her vulnerable to him, and break down her self control. Fear seemed to be an easy way to do that, but now that you've seen some of the story we're developing take that as a direction!

Several of you have sent ideas that are hitting right on target, and that's great, some haven't sent anything yet, and some are still missing the whole concept. We are more than willing to talk to you through some ideas and bounce things around, even make some suggestions. This is a heavy character development mission, and we need to focus on weaknesses and difficult things. I can't accept that a character has none. You are all strong enough writers to really have some deep things happen here.

So maybe focusing on fear was the wrong method in which to portray our vision for this mission, we apologize for that. At the time, it seemed to be the word that fit, but clearly it is not.

I can tell you that your character MUST end up being deeply affected by this mission, it IS up to you how, and what Elian uses to make that happen, but it must happen. THere is No fluff in this story, its meant to be very dark, and very emotional, which can be so much fun to write!

We'd like to see ideas coming at us, and you can have more than one. Keep in mind that Elian wouldn't use something that he hasn't heard your character talking about, or wouldn't be in a file somewhere. Any questions, PLEASE make contact!

have fun writing!
Hawkins and Kavi
Paul and Charlotte
