Personality & Traits

General Overview The Akadian culture is much different than Terran or most other Federation species. They are much more open, when it comes to intimacy and sexuality similar to Deltans Julian is outgoing and personable A bit of an extrovert, unafraid to speak his mind or show emotion. He comes from wealth and privilege but doesn't like sharing that information as he just wants to be like everyone else.

Physically he is not as strong as Humans, but has very sharp reflexes and excellent hand eye coordination. He'd rather talk his way out of a fight, but if things get physical, he is going to win by finesse and speed not brute strength

He has copper based blood like Vulcanoid races and would be subject to the same diseases as they would

Ambitions Make a name for and prove himself. He originally wanted to be a pilot, but became intrigued by Intel work. He didn't look threatening or imposing, far from it, which made him a good fit there. As a result of a court martial he has been demoted and now serves as a yeoman. He desires to redeem himself and has been given that opportunity with his rather unique assignment on the Gladiator where he is a yeoman and a close protection agent for the Captain. He is even considering a command of his own some day, but is still undecided about that.

He doesn't want to return to Akadia and become a diplomat or take over one of the family businesses, so success in Star Fleet is his only way to avoid that.
Hobbies & Interests Cooking, Jiu Jitsu, surfing, holomysteries, rock climbing, poker

Personal History Julian was born on May 31, 2364 to Andreaus and Gabriela Winterstorm in Miafraco, the capital city of the Planet Akadia. Akadia is on oligarchy with a Ruling Council that is made up of Three Major and Seven Minor Families. Vying for power and keeping it is a game that the Akadians play with better finesse than almost any other race in the galaxy. There are few rules and political intrigue, back room deals, double crosses are a common practice. Strengths are blunted, weaknesses exploited and it is sometimes every man for himself.

The reason for the game is simple, Akadia is a planet rich in minerals, including dilithium crystals, and other natural resources. And whoever controls the power controls the wealth.

The Winterstorms are one of the three major families and as the first born Julian was expected to one day take his Father's place as the President of the Council. At the age of four, as is the Akadian custom, a marriage was arranged between Julian and Betah Chaparral who's family was the most prominent and influential of the minor families. A large sum of money changed hands and promises were made.

With his, and the family's future secured Julian grew up in the lap of luxury. Almost anything he desired, was his for the asking, as long as he kept his grades up. learned the family's businesses: mining, communication and ship building, learned the ins and out of Akadian politics and didn't get into too much trouble. He just didn't know a lot of asking.

As he grew up, he fulfilled his duties like any good child on the planet did. But the older he grew, the more disillusioned he became. He had a trait that on most planets was considered a value, even on Akadia, unless you were part of the Ruling Council it would be a virtue as well. Compassion. He saw the way the workers, especially the miners were treated and it appalled him.

By the time he was fourteen he was looking for someway out but really saw none. His twin sisters Selena and Angela who were four years younger than him couldn't take his role, they had duties, like being married off themselves, of their own to fulfill. Likewise his younger brothers Kalin, 21, Landis 19, Rodrick 17 had obligations. So he turned to his best friend Brian Windsong for advice. He and Brian had been best friends since they were in first grade together

Most of their plans were about outlandish and never really had much chance of success, but it did bring them closer, In fact they became so close that their friendship turned to love and on Julian's fifteenth birthday they lost their virginity to each other. They were in love. It would have been easy for Julian to still marry Betah and be with Brian, such things were commonplace on Akadia, but Julian only had eyes for Brian and vice versa.

By the time he was seventeen, Julian knew what he wanted to do be a pilot The happy couple had even made arrangements to take passage on a freighter. This did not go unnoticed by either the Winterstorms, or their rivals and plans were made to stop them. His parents at first forbid him from seeing Brian, something he routinely sidestepped and ignored. They were about to ship him off to a very strict boarding school where he would be indoctrinated and trained to keep his familial duties, whether he wanted to or not.

The rivals had other ideas. One night, shortly before they were to make their escape, at a party both boys were slipped a drug Julian was knocked unconscious, but Brian was not. They were both taken to Brian's bed. Julian was carried and Brian was dragged. They held him down and poured acid on his face which caused a very painful death. Julian was framed for his death.

Framing someone on Akadia is far more difficult on Akadia since almost all the planet is telepathic. So the only way to do it is to plant thoughts in the victim's head that they actually committed the crime. The double blow of losing his lover and thinking that he had done it almost pushed Julian to suicide. Even his family began withdrawing their support, but not before they hired the best attorney money could by Ben Mason.

Ben knew enough about Akadian politics to suspect that things were not as they seemed and what really happened was found out. Even though their plan failed, there were still repercussions. The Chaparral's withdrew the contract and the Winterstorms lost face and the Presidency. Though Julian was a victim, he was blamed for the family' s fall from grace. He was given three options; one, go off totally on his own, two, take over the mining business join the Federation. He chose the third choice, without hesitation.

At the age of twenty he entered the Academy, knowing exactly what he wanted to do, Flight Control. But his aptitude scores and background showed a potential different career path and he was recruited to join Intel.

When he first got to the Academy he was a party animal, sleeping with anyone who would fall for his boyish charms and exotic looks. Until he fell in love with his roommate Elija Boone. The romance stated after a rather big fight, when Elija had caught him in bed with two women. At that point they were just roommates nothing more. But after the fight, which almost caused them to separate and find other roommates, they each apologized. Elija even kissed him, his first kiss, as part of the apology. They started to date and eventually became a couple that was pretty much inseparable

Julian had found his Prince Charming, his Imazdi, his true love. Or at least he thought he had. Until just before he was to graduate Elija broke it off with no warning and no reason given

When the opening on the Gladiator came up, Julian was transferred there.
Service Record 2384-2388 Star Fleet Academy. While at the Academy he excelled at anything that had had to do with hand-eye coordination but almost washed out when it came to skills that required brute physical strength and he graduated somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Two things stand out from his time at the Academy. He "borrowed" and subsequently wrecked the Dean's hover-car in a race and he met, fell in love with and had a torrid affair with Elija Boone a human and medical student. They started as roommates before things turned serious. For awhile it looked like they might get married, before Elija broke things off.

2388- 2391 USS Nikola Tesla As an Ensign he started out as an infiltration specialist. He had been told to keep to himself, but he was too much of an extrovert for that to happen. Friendly, gregarious, and outgoing were some of the words used to describe him in his evaluation reports.

After about six months he became an Assistant Intel Chief and six months after that he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. After he led his men into an ambush, due to misinformation provided him by Admiral Jack Mitchell 's son Caleb, who is a Captain and in charge of things.

Julian was the lone survivor and when he recovered from his injury and found out what was going on he confronted Caleb and things got physical. There was a court martial and while Julian was cleared of any charges for negligence or dereliction of duty in his role in the attack, against a group of Romulan dissidents, he was found guilty of assaulting a superior officer and was demoted and shifted to a yeoman. But he was informed that the yeoman is only his cover identity. He does of course actually act in that position, but he also acts a close protection agent or bodyguard for the CO, or VIPs
