Mission: R&R Coming Home
Location: Security Office
Timeline: Current

As Nuxac made his way to the Security office, he saw several female crewmembers that caught his eye. Had he not been on official business, he would’ve stopped to talk with them, but he did make mental notes on them.

Reaching the Security office, he was greeted by an Andorian female, a petty officer third class. If she was surprised by the sight of a Ferengi in a Starfleet uniform, she kept it well hidden.

“How may I help you, sir?” she asked.

“I’m Ensign Nuxac from the Intelligence office,” he said. “I’d like to speak with the Chief of Security or the Assistant Chief, whichever is available. It’s in regards to a threat against one of the crew.”

“Yes sir,” she said and made her way towards the back of the office.

He added her to his list.

Paula sat back in her chair reading the information that Samuel Phelps had recently given her about the stolen cargo, this sounded bad when the cargo was R&D stuff, she knew that she could contact her friend in Security HQ; Given the state of the information it needed to be looked into, Suddenly her com chimed.

Julian who was a little late due a little private time with Tayor, came into the office carrying a cup of espresso. Glancing between the two officers.

"Something up?" he asked.

Paula responded," Enter,"

Nuxac nodded at both of them.

"Sir, ma'am, I'm Ensign Nuxac from the Intelligence department," he said. "A threat has been made against one of the crew members, Lieutenant JG Nabohn from the Science department, and I came to ask for your help."

He slid a padd across the desk.

"The threat came from one Jonas Adcock, a rival from the lieutenant's former life. According to official records, he died in a shuttle crash as he was being transported to a penal colony, but he may have made a surprising recovery. Everything from our files on him and from an interview I conducted with the lieutenant is on the padd.

"Given the level of security aboard the ship, I doubt he'll make a move here," Nuxac continued. "When the Lieutenant leaves, I expect that's when he--or whoever made the threat--will strike. Lieutenant Phelps has requested someone be assigned to watch him during those times, but without his knowledge. Can you help us out?"

Paula looked back at the Security chief for a moment and wondered why the Lieutenant didn't come himself to see them both about this himself and not this Ensign. Paula asked," How did you find this out?"

Paula had asked a very apt question, and before Julian replied to the request, he wanted to hear the Ferengi's answer.

"It originated from the Lieutenant's home planet, a penal colony," Nuxac said. "Any transmissions originating from such areas are automatically flagged and copied to Intelligence."

"If it is a Security problem then why are we hearing about it now?" asked Paula, leaning back into her chair and looking at the intelligence operative, She continued," Lieutenant Phelps would have given me some indication of this." as she had a good relationship with the Operative's boss.

"We wanted to determine if it was a credible threat or not before bringing it to you," Nuxac said. "No need to raise an alarm if there's no threat, ma'am."

"That is for us to determine Ensign," replied Paula looking back at the young Ensign, She continued," A threat has been made to a Starfleet officer and as Ship's and base Security we should be informed." she finished," don't you agree Chief?" asking Winterstorm the question.

"Completely," Julian responded, "I couldn't have said it better myself, but that is an issue that we will be discussing with Mr. Phelps. Now, let's talk more about this threat."

Paula asked," Is this all the information Ensign or do I have to ask Mr. Phelps for it?" Picking up the PADD that had been given to her as she knew that if she knew that if she had to ask Sam if he could get her own intel clearance on this threat or any Starfleet personnel would she get it.

Julian moved so he could look over her shoulder as she read.

"This looks bad, Don't you think Julian?" as she looked back up at her boss; she continued," How do you want to play this?" knowing that he would want lead on the case as senior officer.

"Yes, it does look bad," the Akadian admitted, "I want two security personnel to be with the Lieutenant at all times. I'm not going to let something happen on my watch."

"Aye Sir," replied Paula as she started to type in some commands to her terminal, She continued," I'll have Alpha team and Beta team rotate to look after him." leaning back in her chair.

"Very good, and let's keep things discreet shall we?" Julian said.

"Aye Sir," replied Paula looking back at Nuxac, " is that clear Lieutenant?" she continued looking back at the intel officer.

"Lieutenant Phelps thought the same thing, ma'am," he said.

"Good, " Julian said, "then I think we are done here unless either of you have anything else."

"No Sir, I don't," replied Paula looking back at the chief, as she knew that there was another pressing matter that she needed to speak to him about; which Phelps himself had approached her with.

"No sir," Nuxac said. "Thank you."

"Dismissed," replied Paula looking at the ensign, as she said to Julian," I hope this doesn't go pear-shaped," as she knew that it sounded like it already had.
