A break in the storm....

Posted on Fri Apr 27th, 2018 @ 12:19pm by Lieutenant JG Theodore Treadagar IV & Major Karbainov Gennadiyevich Ph.D

Mission: New Horizon
Timeline: After the battle

ON:

The marine had just gotten done taking a shower, his gear outside in the locker room, probably something the surgeons used to scrub or decon before shifts. He dried off, feeling a little better now that his exterior was clean, but the taint of this abborhent timeline still clung to his… well soul.

After re-checking his gear and making sure everything was situated in a fresh uniform. He walked out of the locker room and down the hall to the lounge where a functioning replicator was rumored to be operational. He walked up to the replicator and stated. “Computer, hot cocoa, mayan recipe. Hot.” he took a sip of the extremely bitter drink and smiled. Looking around at the gathered members of the crew that were not guarding something or surgerying someone.

Theo was resting in the lounge. He needed a small breather from his other obligations. "As long as you don't order hot earl grey tea, I think we'll get along.." He said with a chuckle as he sipped his Cheerwine. The scarred and weary lieutenant stood and made his way over to the cocoa drinker...

Karbainov raised an eyebrow at the tea comment. “I have been known to have some occasionally.” He said aprizing the Lieutenant. He could see from his years of experience in the corps the signs of someone new to the real face of warfare. “I am Captain Karbainov Gennadiyevich, Marine Commanding Officer…” He said with a smile, offering his hand to the cheerwine drinker.

Theo extended his hand and shook the marine's hand heartily. "Lieutenant Theodore Treadagar IV, former chief of operations on Gladiator.." His face then fell a bit. "I miss that pancaked Sovereign.." He then looked to the marine with a small smile. "So what brings you down here Captain? Trying to escape the hustle and bustle?"

“Nice to meet you.” He shook the man’s hand with a firm handshake. “Yep, one must find what peace they can, when they can, to keep the energy for the fight up.” He said with a nod taking another sip of coca. “So you were on the original Gladiator? I have never served on a Sovereign Class… though I have shipped out on a few of them for transits…Do you miss it in comparison to the Exalibur Gladiator, or just in relation to our current accomidations?”

Theo shook his head when asked about the original Gladiator. "No sir, I came aboard only a year ago. I've only known the Excalibur.." He looked around the wrecked building. "I actually miss the accommodations I had back on the planet myself, Lizzy, Zul'Arra and Zeti were on.." He took a sip of his cheerwine. "Hoping we can get back to it soon.."

“Planetside accommodations can be nice, stability and something of a concrete anchor in an otherwise stormy sea.” Karbainov said with a nodd. “I am just glad someone decided to unfreeze me. Guess the decision was made that we needed another trigger puller.”

"That's definitely a plus right now.." Theo said with a sip of his Cheerwine as he looked around again. "Even the quietest areas of this place are still filled with people." He then turned to the captain. "We found a derelict and crashed old ship on the planet we investigated and when I needed peace, I made my way to the bridge for solitude.."

“So you find yourself most at peace on the bridge of a starship?” Karbainov asked gently. Theo seemed like he had been through a lot recently. The russian had done his best to catch up on what the crew had been up too, but the reports and logs were… sparse at best. All he could do was to listen to people to gauge how they were doing.

"I found myself at peace where I felt comfortable." He said with the slight smile still on his lips. "I also found it in the arms of a woman I've come to love." His cheeks gave a slight tinge of rose coloring. "Still though, even with a lovely woman at a man's side, he still needs a moment or two to himself and the bridge of that particular ship is where I found my strongest peace.."

“Sounds like you have had a hell of a time then.” the Marine said with a smile. “It is good to find companionship. And places of peace.” Finishing his coca he put the empty cup on the replicator pad where it disappeared. “Well, I doubt I will be finding either. I am going to go check the perimeter again. It was nice talking to you Theo, I hope we have more time on the flip side to get to know each other.”

"Likewise captain.." he said as he put his glass back in the replicator to refill it...
