Yoga Pants and Crewmates

Mission: Shoreleave: Kaslau - Submission
Location: Corridor
Timeline: TBD

Ash walked briskly through the corridors, still breathing hard from her jog. She liked jogging through the halls and the Gladiator was still empty enough that she didn't run into anybody. Now, though, she was on cool down mode. Perhaps, if she had time before she had to report to the bridge, she'd practice her flute. And maybe later, she'd go for another adventure with The Doctor. Maybe she'd even take Liam again.

She rounded a corner and slowed to her standard pace. She noticed someone not far ahead, heading towards her and was glad that she wasn't self-conscious about her looks. She was currently wearing black yoga pants, a T-shirt that said, "Do Not Open 'Til Christmas" and a pink stocking cap to keep her shoulder-length hair out of her face. "Hello," she said as she drew nearer. "You're new, aren't you? I'm Ash Coi."

Lizzy stopped and smiled, "G'Day, and yes I am new aboard. I'm Elizabeth Caldera but I go by Lizzy. Just joined the ship as the chief counselor. You are from Flight Control, right?"

"Yeah," said Ash. "Though I've got an Engineering degree, too. I think I'm on call with Engineering. Not sure, really. Suppose I'll find out if they ever call me," she added, grinning. "So, what made you choose counseling?" she asked, always intrigued by people's choices of profession.

"Hmmm.. My father passed away when I was thirteen, and got a lot of help.. Sort of became interested in finding more about how people deal with loss, and that led me into it. I showed talent, especially since I'm half Betazoid and have empathic skills. I also took medical as a backup coz not really useful at times. How long have you been aboard this ship? I can see you do yoga too."

"Actually, I don't," she replied. "But they're WAY more comfortable for running than running pants are, oddly enough." She grinned. "I was here for the launch. Got to take off from the ground! How many pilots get to do that? I mean in an actual ship, not shuttle craft, because I think everybody does that."

Lizzy nodded, "Oh, okay. I've tried them a few times in yoga class, but mainly prefer to be totally without any restraints. Sounds interesting about the ship. I haven't really had a chance to explore much of it. Got any suggestions on cool places?"

Ash shrugged. "A ship's a ship," she replied. "The arboretum's cool, I guess, if you need some nature. Oh! If you're into Doctor Who, I loaded the newest version into the holodeck, so there's that," she added happily.

"Okay. I will check it out later. How do you find the senior staff? I am not really sure how me and the XO are going to get on - maybe with a short brig stay or two for me. "

"Nah, Lieutenant Kavi is pretty easy going," Ash assured her. "I suppose you could ask the computer where they are, or just page them. I think you'll find most of the senior staff to be fairly laid back. You're lucky; you didn't have to deal with Jarland- or, as Kavi likes to call him, Jerkland."

"Hmm.. I definitely didn't get that opinion from her when I met her. I read up on some of the earlier incidents and understand. Guessing it would be safe to assume he isn't coming back?"

"She was probably in a mood," replied Ash. "And no, he's not coming back. In fact, he was discommandated; they kicked him out. I feel a little sorry for him, as ridiculous as that sounds. I mean, he punched Callaghan for kissing me, and then proceeded to hit on me. I should be glad he's gone, but I only pity him."

Lizzy blinked, "Wow, he sounds like he was quite a screwball, and I'm glad for you that he isn't around. If you ever feel like you need to talk about that or anything, please come and see me, ok? I haven't met Lt Callaghan yet, although he is on my list."

Ash grinned. "You'll like him," she said. "Everyone does. Well, aside from Jerkland, but he didn't like anyone. Except me, apparently," she added, rolling her eyes. "Never mind. Point is, you'll like Callaghan. He's fun. But, then, I'm biased." She grinned.

"Nice.. There is never anything wrong with bias like that. It's just really good to hear that you found someone that you get on well with."

"Yeah," she said. "Well, I got on with most of the crew. I'm just not sure about Kavi. Sometimes... I dunno," she finished with a dismissive shake of her head.

Lizzy nodded, "I normally get on well with people too, but.. will just have to see."

"I'm sure you'll be fine," Ash reassured the counselor. "Anyway, I'd better get going. There's a meeting in a couple hours and I still have to shower and get dressed. I'll see you later, okay?"

Lizzy smiled, "Thanks. Yeah, I'll see you around. "
